The Work Ministry Team wishes all of you a wonderful Christmas, a time to celebrate our faith and commitment. For our many Jewish friends, we wish you a Happy Hanukah!
Work Ministry has extensive plans for developing more relationships with employers and attracting career opportunities for you in support of your career goals. We look forward to 2007!
Jobkabob.com: sell your skills, not your work history.
Jobkabob.com was launched a few months ago and is attracting attention of employers. Employers hire people for what they can do, and focus on skill sets of core competencies that are directly relevant to their searches for talent. Jobkabob.com is all about skills and showing what you bring to the job market. Set up an account, prepare your record of skills and accomplishments and give it a try!
KPMG is one of the big four consulting firms and currently has about 200 positions posted in ten states. McGraw Hill is a major publisher and has five positions posted for opportunities in the Chicago area. Please ask members of your group to check out the opportunities, and thanks for your support of our employer clients.
Career Concepts USA conducts up to 400 Job Fairs a year across the country. For the schedule of events in your area, please visit the Job Fair Calendar on their site. Hope this relationship helps!
Have you just recently landed a new job, or are you close to landing an opportunity? Great! Concluding a job search is a great experience to share with family and friends as well as all the people who helped you along the way. A recommendation: once you get settled into the new assignment, set aside some time and return to one or more of the groups that helped you and offer support and help to those still in job search. The positive energy and hope that employed people bring to job support meetings cannot be measured, but your participation makes a difference at every meeting. Make the effort, share your ideas and experience with others- they will appreciate it!
First Find A Job … Then Learn To Dance!
The Las Vegas chapter of Work Ministry gives you both, back to back.
On the second Sunday of the month, you can learn how to find a job from 4:30 to 6, and then learn how to swing dance from 7 to 9 … at the same location, with the same instructor.
"My vocation is helping 6 and 7 figure executives find jobs," notes Mark Hovind, the instructor for both classes, "and my avocation is swing dancing. We’ve offered Swing Dance lessons at our church as a ministry for more than ten years, and it seemed natural to expand out to a Work Ministry."
The Las Vegas Work Ministry chapter is in its first year and has helped about 50 job seekers so far. The dance ministry that follows (DanceGig.com) attracts about 100 every week. Both are free and both accept donations to help victims of domestic violence.
Mark concludes: "There are some common threads. Each ministry focuses on teaching new skills, improving self-confidence, and nurturing the human spirit. We are probably the only place on the planet that offers this combination, and it’s ironical - even comical - that we’re doing it in Las Vegas."
Mark Hovind is the President of JobBait.com. He can be reached at Mark@JobBait.com and at 702-648-6616.
Leaders please review your Job Support Group web page and see if all info is accurate and up-to-date. Please send any corrections to webmaster@workministry.com.
Remember networkers: once you have landed your job, complete our landings survey.
"I couldn’t wait for success, so I went ahead without it." - Jonathan Winters
The will of God for your life is simply that you submit yourself to Him each day and say, "Father, Your will for today is mine. Your pleasure for today is mine. Your work for today is mine. I trust You to be God. You lead me today and I will follow."
- Kay Arthur
