April 16 - Behavioral-based Interviewing

Rick Hatch will lead us in a session on "Behavioral-based Interviewing".

Behavioral-based interviewing is an assessment technique that focuses on what candidates have done in the past, not on what they might do in the future. This allows hiring managers to assess applicants/candidates more fairly and objectively than other methods. The premise is that the past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior.

To succeed in behavioral interviews, you must be able to relate stories that link your experience and skills to the potential position and employer. The STARR Technique is helpful in developing framework for this. Rick will explain STARR and lead us in these areas at the meeting.

Rick works with "The Door" a job support group at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Apple Valley and helped us when we were setting up St. Stephen's Job Support Group.
