Welcome!
The Southwest Job Network (SJN) is a tax exempt 501c3 nonprofit organization established under the name Scottsdale Job Network. Our program is conducted in the Phoenix, AZ area.
We are business professionals who provide education in the job search process, and all participants have the opportunity to meet and work with people who offer support and guidance during employment transition.
There are no membership dues to join SJN. Customary meeting donation of $5 is tax deductible. Nominal fees are asked for evening networking events and some workshops.
Education & Training
SJN regularly schedules networking and training meetings in north central Phoenix, on the first and third Tuesday morning of each month.
Programs feature experts such as professional career coaches, entrepreneurs and business leaders covering relevant topics including social media, interviewing skills, insight into what recruiters look for, and much more.
Additional events, including some evening programs, are held around the Valley. These meetings offer singular opportunities to network with other job seekers, alumni members and business representatives.
Job Search Curriculum
SJN offers a comprehensive curriculum that was developed by volunteers—career coaches, human resources and training professionals—to help improve skills and success in the job search process. The modules are:
- Managing the Emotions of Career Change and Developing Your Vision
- Your Marketing Plan: Resumes, LinkedIn and Other Tools
- Creating Leads and Networking
- Interviewing and Managing Offers
Online Resources
Yahoo Group
Yahoo Group is SJN’s intranet resource that helps members stay connected. Through it, SJN posts job leads, shares relevant information and more.
Also on the Yahoo site is the SJN member contact list, calendar of SJN events, past presentations, reading lists, and links to job sites and other resources.
To join the Yahoo Group, you must attend one SJN meeting and fill out a registration form.
LinkedIn Group
SJN’s LinkedIn Group is a social media meeting place for members, alumni and supporters. LinkedIn Group membership is limited to Arizona-based job seekers, employers, recruiters, and others relocating to Arizona.
Also accepted are out of state recruiters who place Arizona-based candidates.
Self Support Teams (SSTs)
Self Support Teams (SSTs) are small groups of SJN members who meet regularly to share ideas, experiences and provide job search support. SSTs are started by SJN members who live in the same area of the Valley or share a career goal.
Volunteers are the life blood of our organization!

- Other volunteer opportunities for individuals include serving on committees of the organization.
