Join us as Ralph Young, Coordinator for the Tri-City Unemployment Group shows us unique and effective ways to use the job search techniques well known to us. February 21, 2009 – “Resume Review9:00am to 11:00am, St. Marcelline Church, 822 S. Springinsguth, Schaumburg, IL. Bring your resume for a personal evaluation by one of six HR, Search, or career counselors who will be on hand to give you their thoughts and suggestions. Bring a friend – This is for all occupations and levels.

 

February 23, 2009 – “Career Communications” - 7:00 to 9:15pm. St. Hubert Ministry Center, 729 Grand Canyon, Hoffman Estates. Joining us will be Exec-U-Net Liaison Melody Campbell. Melody will share with us her years of experience in how to improve your career communications to effectively attract an employer to your message. Be sure to attend this meeting and topic.

 

February 28, 2009 – “Stretching Your Finances in a Job Search 9:00am to 12 Noon. This seminar is intended for the newly unemployed and the concerned worker to better understand the actions that can be taken to reduce outlay, stretch funds and increase the amount of time available to reach your next career objective. Bob Podgorski, coordinator, of the St. Hubert Job Ministry will present. Location: St. James Church, 820 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Hts., IL.  School Basement-east side of Arlington Heights Road. You go in door A26.

 

March 9, 2009

FOR THE NEWCOMER: If you are new to Networking and/or the job search, join us at St. Hubert, 6:00pm, prior to our regular meetings (on the second Monday of the month only). We’ll offer a one hour program on how to use a networking meeting effectively, the tools you’ll need such as; The Elevator Speech; How to do a Handbill, and how to generate the contacts you need.

Followed by:

Interviewing with an Ounce of Prevention- 7:00pm to 9:15pm at St. Hubert Ministry Center, 729 Grand Canyon, Hoffman Estates, IL. Attorney, Dan Felix will present on how to interview effectively and with an awareness of the illegal and potentially avoidable mistakes made by company representatives, recruiters and the candidates themselves.

Our presenter is Nick Koclanis, Executive Recruiter, Career Education Corporation (retired).

 

March 28, 2009 – “Ten Keys to Starting a Great Business After Age 50 – 9:00am to 12:00pm, Immanuel Lutheran Church, 200 Plum Grove Rd., Palatine, IL.  We are pleased to present our first presentation on starting your own business. Andy Rockwood will present for those who may be interested and the entrepreneurs in the group.

April 16, 2009 (Thursday Evening) The Psychology of the Interview7:00pm to 9:00pm, Village Presbyterian Church, 1300 Shermer Road, Northbrook, IL.  Learn about the interview from the other side of the desk. Learn what the psychology is behind certain questioning, why it is important to understand where the interview is going and reply in a manner that places a positive tone to your candidacy. Dr. Stephen A. Laser, Psychologist to Organizations, Chicago, will present.
